The Last Order | Chapter 7

Chapter 7 - Amateur, Professional, Ninth Rank

There are mainly two levels: amateur and professional.

Each level is divided into ranks from one to nine.

Rank one is the lowest, rank nine is the highest.

Different ranks have different requirements for mastery, strength, speed and so on of the martial arts learned.

Lu Yuan roughly looked and found that the amateur ninth rank actually required a punching power standard of over 300 kg.

"In my previous life, this could be considered a top heavyweight professional fighter."

Lu Yuan secretly tsked, and now he began to believe in Cheng Peng's previous description that the coaches at the Yuan Martial Arts School could punch the over 100 kg sandbags and send them flying seven to eight meters.

If amateurs were like this, professional martial artists would be even more powerful.

"It looks like the level of martial arts in this world is also much higher than my previous life. The top martial artists may really be like 'superhumans'."

Not only that, Lu Yuan also found out.

Martial artists who have obtained official certification from the Martial Arts Association get a lot of extra points when applying for universities.

Some famous top schools even have rigid requirements in this regard.

For example, the Air Force Academy requires at least amateur seventh rank martial arts level to apply.

"The Air Force Academy is the cradle of pilots, astronauts, and even members of the armored forces are selected from there.

Having high physical requirements is normal."

Because of the existence of the [Student] Profession Panel, Lu Yuan did think about attending a famous university when in college.

But his goal was only ordinary famous schools, aiming to develop into a scientific researcher or business elite in the future.

He had never thought about becoming a pilot, astronaut, or even a mecha warrior.

Now his mindset has changed a bit.

"Human exploration of the universe in this world is far ahead of my previous life. The top echelons have started extraterrestrial immigration.

If there is a chance, it would be great to leave the earth and head to the stars."

"I will also need to make corresponding changes to my future attribute additions."

Lu Yuan stood under the bus stop sign at the entrance of the internet cafe, looking up at the grayish blue sky and silently thought.

When Lu Yuan returned home, it was already 11:20 am.

His mother Zheng Qiuling was still sitting in the store watching TV.

Seeing Lu Yuan come back, she immediately squeezed out a smile and greeted him over.

"How was the interest class?"

"It was ok, pretty good."

"As long as it's good then that's good. You have to practice well. Your dad paid a lot of money to sign you up for this class."

Zheng Qiuling solemnly exhorted, "But studying is still the main thing."

"I know, Mom."

Lu Yuan nodded, then asked, "Where's Dad?"

"He went to the hospital to accompany Grandpa.

He already made lunch for you, go up and eat."

"I'll bring it down to eat with you."

Lu Yuan quickly went upstairs, took out his sweaty martial arts clothes from his backpack and threw them into the washing machine.

Then he made several trips to bring down all the prepared dishes from the table to the first floor.

Sitting at a table half a person tall, he started eating with his mom.

As the saying goes, it's easy to open a shop but hard to keep it open.

This little grocery store at home was basically guarded solely by his mom. It was really tough.

Don't think sitting in the store watching TV every day is very relaxing.

Not leaving for a single step, 365 days a year, over ten hours every day - wanna try sitting here!?

Today's dishes were similar to yesterday's. Red braised pork was replaced with red braised fish, winter melon ribs soup was replaced with corn ribs soup.

Lu Yuan ate with great appetite.

The morning's energy consumption made him especially hungry now. He actually ate three whole bowls of rice before stopping.

He usually eats at most two bowls, and the second bowl barely reaches the rim.

Today, all three bowls were filled solid.

While eating, Lu Yuan looked at his panel attributes, which were still the same as before.

It was unrealistic to expect significant improvement in physique after just one day of training. When the training becomes routine, he should be able to see increases in strength, physique and so on.

"Looks like it was good to sign up for the interest class. You have a great appetite today.

Eat more, eating more will help you grow taller and stronger.

You're only in 10th grade this year, you should be able to grow even taller next year. It'd be even better if you can reach 1.8 meters."

Zheng Qiuling smiled as she watched Lu Yuan eat. After he finished, she stopped him from getting up and cleared the bowls and chopsticks herself.

Lu Yuan didn't fight with his mom for it, knowing that she had been sitting all morning and could use a chance to get up and move around.

"20 yuan for the white box and 35 yuan for the red box. Which do you want?"

"Whites, and a lighter."

"The lighter is 1 yuan."

Lu Yuan skillfully served a customer buying cigarettes. His mom wasn't back yet, so he picked up the remote on the counter and changed the channel on the TV.

While massaging his sore, swollen arms, he boredly watched TV to pass time.

He switched to their local Jiaoyan City channel, which was currently broadcasting the noon news.

"In recent news, the old city renovation plan has entered its second phase. The Municipal Housing and Construction Commission has issued an important notice."

"On the afternoon of June 6th, our city's newly built Sports Center Stadium was officially opened. It is understood that this year, over ten major sports events and large-scale activities will be held there in the second half of the year."

"Ow!"

Lu Yuan accidentally pressed on a torn muscle area in his arm, instantly feeling a piercing pain that made him suck in a breath.

At this time, the TV reported another news item.

"Recently, multiple missing persons cases have occurred in the western district of our city. The Municipal XX Bureau attaches great importance to this and has set up a task force to handle the case."

Lu Yuan was slightly startled upon seeing this news.

The western district?

Wasn't that where his home was located?

Missing persons cases, how come he hadn't heard anything about it?

"For it to attract high-level attention from the Municipal Bureau, with a task force set up, it was probably not just some ordinary missing persons cases. There were probably a lot of missing people? Or it involved murder?"

Lu Yuan speculated to himself.

At this time, Zheng Qiuling walked in from the back door and urged him upstairs.

"It's hot downstairs, go upstairs.

Take a nap and remember to study. You still have school tomorrow."

"Got it Mom."

Lu Yuan nodded and stood up, taking two steps forward.

He suddenly stopped and turned around to ask Zheng Qiuling seriously.

"Mom, has our family recently not been paid back for a large amount owed?"

Zheng Qiuling was startled, her expression immediately turning somewhat gloomy. "Yes, a customer of over ten years suddenly disappeared after taking a very large batch of goods, didn't pay the amount owed. Your dad has been worried about this."

Saying so, she suddenly frowned and urged him, "Go, go upstairs quickly.

What's a child asking so many questions for, it's not your place to worry about this yet."

Lu Yuan pouted without saying more, and went upstairs.

After lunch, he was home alone again.

Lu Yuan first took the washed martial arts clothes from the washing machine and hung them on the balcony to dry, then went into his bedroom, turned on the AC and lay down on the bed.

He didn't want to move at all now. His arms felt less and less like they belonged to him.

This was [Absolute Focus] for you. After becoming completely absorbed in something, you even forget the passage of time and don't realize your body has been overexerted.

This was clearly overtraining.

"Let's see the results of the morning practice."

Lu Yuan concentrated and opened his attributes panel before his eyes.

Now his occupations included one more. His Profession Panel also changed to two panels that he could freely switch between [Student] and [Fighter].

The [Fighter] panel currently displayed:

[Fighter Lv1 (13/100)]

[Basic Occupation Skills: Beginner Body Tempering Lv1 (22/100)

Basic Boxing Lv1 (53/100)]

Going all out in training also had its benefits.

In just the morning, the basic boxing that Lu Yuan had just comprehended already had over half the experience filled.

It wouldn't take long for it to reach Lv2.
