The Last Order | Chapter 12

Chapter 12 - Delivery

A few seconds later, Lu Yuan decisively allocated the skill point to [Absolute Focus].

[Absolute Focus] also instantly rose from lv1 to lv2.

Currently under the Fighter Profession, he had a few skills - Beginner Body Tempering, Basic Boxing, and the Basic Leg Techniques he had just learned today.

Before reaching lv3, experience points were still relatively easy to grind.

In two or three days, he could level up a skill from lv1 to lv2.

The experience points needed to go from lv2 to lv3 doubled, making it slightly more difficult to obtain, but at most it would take a week to rush through.

Using a precious skill point to save three to five days?

It was not worth it at all, simply a waste of skill points.

So of course Lu Yuan chose to improve the only core skill he currently possessed - [Absolute Focus].

"It seems like core skills can only be improved through skill points, since there is no experience bar shown under core skills."

"Mom, I'm done eating."

Lu Yuan hastily finished the last of the food in his bowl, then stood up and said to his mother, Zheng Qiuling.

He was already somewhat eager to quickly go upstairs and test out what effects lv2 [Absolute Focus] would have.

"Full already? If not, go back up and eat some more. Just throw the bowl and chopsticks in the sink when you're done. Leave them and I'll wash everything together tonight."

"Got it."

Just as Lu Yuan was about to head out the back door, a customer suddenly entered the shop.

"Five bags of rice, two bags of flour, salt, peanut oil, soy sauce..."

It was an old lady in her sixties. She came in and immediately bought a large pile of stuff in one breath.

Lu Yuan found her a bit familiar - she seemed to live nearby.

Originally about to head upstairs, he now paused.

"Why are you buying so much stuff, is your family hosting a banquet?"

This order from the old lady was a "big sale". His mother was clearly in a good mood.

She swiftly got the goods ready for the customer, and couldn't help asking.

"Haven't you seen the news? Lately there's been people going missing in the west side of the city."

The old lady responded anxiously, "That's why I'm stocking up on more stuff - so my family doesn't need to go out as much."

When Zheng Qiuling heard this, her expression also turned serious. "Now that you mention it, that's true. This morning when I was at the shop, the police came by with a notebook asking each shop questions.

It seems quite serious."

"That's right, you don't even know, a child from the unit next to ours has gone missing."

The two chatted more and more enthusiastically. Zheng Qiuling pulled over a stool for the old lady, and the two sat down and started gossiping under the electric fan.

Lu Yuan listened clearly from the side, his expression also slightly odd.

"The disappearance case from last week still hasn't been solved?

And it seems to be getting worse and worse?"

It was even involving people from their neighborhood now.

But the old lady's information was mostly unreliable. He would only listen to one or two key things.

Seeing his mother engrossed in endless conversation with the other party, even counting the dog from the bun shop next door that went missing last month as part of the disappearance case, he was even more certain of this point.

He simply took the bowls and chopsticks upstairs. By the time he came back down after sitting in the living room for a while,

the gossip session was already over.

His mother was discussing delivery arrangements with the old lady.

"Why don't we have someone deliver the goods to you later? Just leave me your address and phone number."

"When's later?"

"No later than 6 or 7pm, will definitely get it to you by then."

"Mom-"

Lu Yuan walked over to interrupt their conversation, "Or I can go right now. I'm free at the moment anyway."

"You?"

Zheng Qiuling glanced at the large pile of rice, flour, and cooking oil by the shop entrance, with a hesitant expression. "Can you carry all that? It's a lot of stuff."

"Don't worry, I haven't been training for nothing recently."

Lu Yuan directly went to take the keys hanging on the wall himself. "The car is in the backyard, right?"

"Yes."

Zheng Qiuling nodded, then couldn't help asking again: "Yuan, are you sure you can do it? Or just leave it and wait for your dad to come back from the hospital tonight to deliver it."

"No need."

Lu Yuan had already grabbed the keys and ran into the stairwell leading to the backyard.

Passing through the corridor, he saw an electric tricycle parked in the shaded area of the backyard.

In his previous life after college graduation, Lu Yuan had worked as a deliveryman for a period of time and was quite skilled at riding these electric tricycles.

He easily reversed the tricycle out of the yard and parked it in front of his family's small shop.

Next was loading the goods onto the vehicle.

This was what his mother Zheng Qiuling was most worried about.

But her concerns quickly dissipated as she watched Lu Yuan easily toss several 50-jin bags of rice onto the tricycle.

"What a nice young man, handsome face and strong body. You've raised a good son!"

The old lady heartily praised Lu Yuan while Zheng Qiuling listened happily.

"His grades are great too, always top few in his class."

"Outstanding!"

After Lu Yuan loaded everything onto the tricycle and helped the old lady get on and sit securely, he bid Zheng Qiuling farewell and twisted the throttle to ride off.

"Be careful, go slow!"

He could still hear Zheng Qiuling shouting from afar.

The old lady didn't live far at all.

The electric tricycle arrived in just two minutes.

The only slightly troublesome thing was that the old lady lived on the 5th floor, so Lu Yuan still had to carry everything up for her one by one.

After running up and down 4-5 times, he finally delivered the five bags of rice, two bags of flour, cooking oil and everything else upstairs.

Lu Yuan was quite exhausted. He sat on the tricycle drinking mineral water given to him by the old lady while resting for a bit.

But he was elated inside.

The effects of the two points added to Physique were too obvious.

Although holding a 50-jin bag of rice in his arms still felt a bit heavy, running up five floors didn't feel strenuous at all.

Compared to before when Lu Yuan had to take three breaks going up four floors, this was undoubtedly a huge improvement.

"My current physique is probably about the same as someone who exercises regularly and has a strong physique, an average adult male.

Better than most high school students."

This was what Lu Yuan deduced based on the Intellect points he had added previously.

8 points was the normal level for an average high school student, while 9 points was the standard for an adult male.

As for 10 points, it entered the realm of "elites" among ordinary people.

"The Student Profession will soon reach lv4, just a few dozen experience points away from lv3.

The Fighter Profession is also close to reaching lv3.

In a short period of time, I'll certainly gain two attribute points.

With those two attribute points, I should have a good chance at passing the formal disciple trials at the Yuan Martial Arts School!"

Lu Yuan fantasized a bit about his promising future, instantly putting him in a great mood.

He tossed the finished mineral water bottle into the cargo compartment of the tricycle, then twisted the throttle and sped home.

In the afternoon as usual, Lu Yuan spent two hours studying.

With the monthly exams approaching, the school had assigned mainly review work and much less homework.
